Valentin Christiaens received his Master thesis at the University of Liège in 2012. He is currently carrying out a PhD thesis under the joint supervision of Prof. Simon Casassus (U. Chile) and Dr. Olivier Absil (U. Liège). His fields of interest include transition disks and spiral arm structures in circumstellar disks, planet and protoplanet search, observational and post-processing techniques for high-contrast and high-resolution direct/coronagraphic imaging. Within the VORTEX team, Valentin works on the application of the AGPM to the observation of transition disks, and to the implementation and testings of post-processing algorithms.
