Dr. Gilles Orban de Xivry received is PhD from the Max Planck Institute for extraterrestrial Physics in February 2014 on the topics of nearby Active Galactic Nuclei (AGN) and adaptive optics. He continued at MPE for the commissioning of ARGOS, the laser assisted ground-layer adaptive optics system, at LBT. He joined the Vortex group in spring 2016 to develop low order wavefront control techniques for VODCA (Vortex Optical Demonstrator for Coronagraphic Applications) bench. His research now focus on adaptive optics on medium size telescope, wavefront sensing techniques for high-contrast imaging, and his spare time on studying a few interesting nearby AGNs.
